One Year in Blogging

As of today, this blog is one-year-old (or maybe because it’s still an infant we should say 12-months). It doesn’t really feel like it’s been that long, which is good because that means it didn’t end up being a chore, a fear of mine from the beginning. The raw stats: 120 posts for an average of one post every 3 days, with a total of 23,816 words. I used the word “the” more than any other word, which seems obvious, at 943 times. For words more important than “the” I created a word cloud, through Wordle:

I never would have guessed but it turns out I talk about “people” a lot. “Comedy” is oddly in there twice, which I would fix but I’m just noticing it now and I’m going to let it slide. If I combined the two, “comedy” would probably have the biggest representation, but like I said before, too late. I’m not sure why I use the word “one” so much, other than when I’m constantly yelling out “I’m number one!” (but that doesn’t appear in the blog).

Another interesting fact is that I actually have one post, The Ice Cream That Couldn’t Get Any Love, that has more views than the homepage (which is mind-boggling). That particular post was quite popular on StumbleUpon for reasons I wish I knew.

I’m not entirely sure what I’ve taken out of this first year being a blogger. I’ve finally started actually linking to and discussing other people’s (there’s that word “people,” again) blogs. I realize I need to stop the Monthly Keywords feature, since barely anyone read the January edition and the December one didn’t do so hot either. I need more images to keep Pintrest people happy. And really, I just need to write more longer posts, people seem to relate to those better than my shorter ones. Though don’t worry fans of short blog posts, I’ll never stop making those, they’re too easy.

Well, thanks for reading and please keep coming back!

P. S. If you do like reading this blog, please do subscribe through RSS, like, tweet, +1, pin, stumble, or whatever else you do to help spread the word. I greatly appreciate it!
