Holiday decorations are the best. I love how much effort is put into coming up with new ideas for them year after year. Above is a photo of one of my all time favorites from Halloween 2008. It’s timely; Election Day is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, at most 8 days after Halloween. It’s poignant; politicians are the worst, it’s like their monsters! It’s goofy, for many reasons:
- The first word on this sign for the holiday known as haunting and scary is “please.”
- This is a re-election campaign.
- The campaign is for “Ghost.” It’s hard to tell if this is a particular ghost named Ghost or the concept of all ghosts (it might be racist if it’s the latter).
- The election is for the specific office of “State Rep.” and not Mayor, City Counselor, President, Senator, or any other more well-known position.
Bonus: There’s a second sign in the background of the photo to please vote for the Headless Horseman, also for “State Rep.”
